My House Challenge

Picture is not really good. I'll make another one later today. Stitching is done mainly on the sewing machine. The roof is sparkly felt (although the sparkles do not show up. The tree, bird, flowers and puppy are all buttons. The door handle is a piece from an old necklace. The grass is a piece of ribbon. I had fun making this house.  Looking forward to the other challenges.

As I begin my first blog, I am a bit nervous, nevertheless, I'm making the plunge.  I have wanted to start a blog to have a place to display my love for textile arts. Although I don't have a formal education in textile arts or design, I have a love for fabrics, trims, threads, and anything textile. I enjoy putting together several types of fibers and fabrics and watching how they come together. Sometimes I end up with a beautiful product, but sometimes it's just a learning experience of what not to do.

My love for textiles began when I was very young, learning at my mother's feet. My first projects included embroiered handkerchiefs and doll clothing. Over the years my interests have expanded into many more areas of textile art including embelling fabrics with an array fibers. I am self taught in crochet, knitting, doll making and jewelry making.

Look for photos of some of my project in future blogs. Please feel free to leave constructive comments or ideas.
